Inline Hockey Comes to the RAC
Maybe you have walked by the gym or watched from the window in the stairwell going to and from the cardio area on Sunday from 10am-12pm and watch inline hockey now being played at the RAC.
What does it take to play in line hockey at the RAC???
Helmet ,shin guards, hockey gloves and stick. There is a stick blade requirement so if you are interested in playing we can put you in touch with the right people. Seasoned players who have played ice hockey or inline hockey...new players who have never skated .....young players ,middle age and older.... and women . Whatever your skill level you will fit right in. Bring both a white and dark jersey as there are no set teams...if one team starts to dominate we adjust the teams ......and oh by the way , bring plenty of water .
I have seen ice hockey on TV or have been to a Thunderbirds game....is it the same??
Hardly! The game is much faster with lots of chances to score or make the game changing defensive play or the great save in goal. We play 3 on 3 plus a goalie . There is no contact or checking just incidental and unintentional contact. We play with a hockey ball that is made for the game. The nets are regulation ice hockey nets, 6 feet wide 4 feet high. There is no off-side or icing nor any system of penalties
Cost
Free for RAC Members (not including the equipment required to play)
Non-Members can sign up for a year for $350.00. That's 50 weeks at $5.00 per play - you can't beat that price . Try it out before you sign up for the year for only $10.00 for one time. (This does not count as a drop in or gym membership...this is for Hockey play only)
New game times are forming for Saturday afternoon and Friday night
